There was an update which removed these gsettings keys and because of that they do not work anymore. I like this feature so I don't need it but I have found out that there is an option to stop going fullscreen on another space and make spaces fixed again by execution of gsettings set org.gnome.mutter dynamic-workspaces false I have test it a few times and ...

Please see my screenshot: That's how I have my gestures configured in order to swipe workspaces with 4 fingers and do some minimize with three. Also three finger Back/Fwd for the browser navigation :)

elementary OS does not currently support that as a feature. I've filed an issue on GitHub to track the request, though!
