During boot I get the message:

/dev/mapper/elementary--vg-swap_1 is not ready yet or not present - message on boot

which has been deleted after a while. After a login I can't see any swap space related entry in mtab. How can I solve this problem?

My system doesn't boot with UEFI, the content of the file fstab is

Are you using the UUID in /etc/crypttab in the line of cryptswad1? I think it is a known bug, you can replace the UUID by the device:

cryptswap1 /dev/sdaX /dev/urandom swap,cipher=aes-cbc-essiv:sha256

  • Unfortunately this hint don't help. I've read the source and changed the files crypttab and fstab as suggested but after reboot the problem happens again. – Ralf Ebert Mar 24 '16 at 21:03
  • I have tried to activate the swap space using /etc/crypttab-early but this fails again with the response cryptswap1: the precheck for '/dev/sda5' failed: - The device /dev/sda5 contains a filesystem type LVM2member :-/.
