I just attempted a package update through AppCenter, but didn't actually worked. Since I couldn't find out what was wrong, I tried updating through terminal.

Now, after apt update and updating most of the packages, apt upgrade returns the following output:

The following packages have been kept back:
  grub-common grub-pc grub-pc-bin grub2-common shim shim-signed

The system works fine, booting and all, but something I'm not aware of might be wrong, since it's the first time something like this happens.

Has anyone had this problem before, or have a possible solution/workaround for it, or know about some bug that might lead to this ocurring (this might not be a problem with the OS per se)?

OS version is 5.1.7 Hera.

  • try to update them manually with apt install grub-common grub-pc grub-pc-bin grub2-common shim shim-signed or apt install -f grub-common grub-pc grub-pc-bin grub2-common shim shim-signed.
