Having issues with my laptop waking from suspend.

Problem symptoms:

  • When waking from long suspend (30 minutes or more), sometimes system hangs and can't be woken up at all
  • If system does wake, sometimes (usually) there's no sound (see image)
    • Notice sound settings says "no output device"
    • Image of sound settings saying there's no output device

Any thoughts?

  • I have the same problem, it's so frustrating. I have done many things that seemed to fix this problem, but nothing has stuck. The key seems to be the 'long suspend', as you call it. If I let it suspend for a short time, everything comes back as normal. But if I let it sit overnight, when I come back, no sound. No sound devices detected at all, actually; only a full restart can bring the sound back. I installed alsamixer (because one of those previous 'fixes' required me to), and when I open it up, all the levels for 'HDA Intel HDMI' are set to 00 (even if the sound is working), and all the lev – nathan Jul 5 at 2:18
