I have a new laptop with an i5-8265u processor using Intel UHD Graphics 620, 16GB of RAM, 256GB m.2 ssd and built using a Clevo chasis.

When sold I beleive it was working fine, but after a Pantheon update, locking the screen explicitly via the superkey + L or the menu in the top right results in a black screen and won't come back without a restart.

Weirdly, if the screen locks automatically as a result of suspending, it actually displays the login screen and unlocks fine.

  • I can't reproduce this issue on my system. Are you using Juno or a previous version of elementary? Also, you could suspend your laptop instead of locking it on the meantime. Since you have a SSD it's going to wake up instantly so it won't make a big difference. – Maccer Apr 20 '19 at 18:54
