I apologize if this has been asked before, I have had a look and while I have found similar issues from users, nothing that helps me. Thank you for any help you can give!

After an operating system update (2 or 3 updates ago) I have had a problem with horizontal lines flickering on my screen. This occurs on my Desktop, windows for different software, everywhere. The lines usually sit on or extend from any horizontal line or border on the screen (edge of windows, boxes on webpage, ect.). It even occurs when the elementary logo appears at boot, and lines extend across my screen from the password entry box. If a line appears on webpage, it will move with the page as I scroll it.

From what I can tell reading about similar issues, it seems to be a problem relating to my graphics card and driver? It also could be an issue with the connection to my laptop screen but I think otherwise because of the way the artifacts track with things.

My details:

Distribution -> elementary OS 0.4.1 Loki

Graphics card/controller -> Intel Corporation 3rd Gen Core processor Graphics Controller (rev 09)

Computer-> Samsung NP900X3F-K01AU (laptop) -> Dual-Core Intel® Core™ i5-3337U CPU @ 1.80GHz

I am trying to learn a bit more about system structure and how operating systems work with hardware, so a little explanation to what went wrong would be cool as well. Thank you for your help!
