I have ASUS T100TA 2-1 laptop, and while running Windows 10, my keyboard base stopped working properly after the latest series of updates. The touchpad works, as do some of the keys, but a majority of my letter keys do not. So, thinking that this may be a software issue, I thought of giving elementary a shot by booting a live USB version of Freya that I have on hand. However, I still run into the exact same issue. So I'm wondering has my keyboard just died on me or is it possible that it may work if I just installed elementary (I'm thinking of using the latest distrubtion a shot).

  • That sounds like a hardware problem, but it may not be serious. Could just be a lose connection. You could try to open it up and check the ribbon cable is seated tightly. If you don't want to do that I'm sure you can find a local shop that would take a look. Worst case a new keyboard may be needed or you could try using an external USB keyboard for now. – rdanter Feb 11 '18 at 12:24
