On Stack Exchange, we believe the core moderators should come from the community, and be elected by the community itself through popular vote. We hold regular elections to determine who these community moderators will be.

Community moderators are accorded the highest level of privilege on our community, and should themselves be exemplars of positive behavior and leaders within the community.

Our general criteria for moderators is as follows:

  • patient and fair
  • leads by example
  • shows respect for their fellow community members in their actions and words
  • open to some light but firm moderation to keep the community on track and resolve (hopefully) uncommon disputes and exceptions

Full elections have three phases and an optional fourth phase (Primary):

  1. Question Collection
  2. Nomination
  3. Primary
  4. Election

Please participate in the moderator elections by voting, and perhaps even by nominating yourself to be a community moderator!

I have been a moderator in the past in elementary OS Stack Exchange before. I have been busy with my work and couldn't give much time at some point. I would like to resume my focus on elementary OS SE now.

As a previous moderator, I am aware of the duties that comes with the role. I intend to fulfill those duties accordingly.

Thank you.

Although I have not been incredibly active on eOS SE lately, I would like to throw my hat into the ring for consideration. I have been an active Linux user since the late 90s and have watched it evolve from a simple text-based operating system to what it is today, powering devices big and small across the solar system. elementary OS is not my daily driver, but I do have a ThinkPad Carbon dedicated to Horus, and virtual machines for earlier releases.

Moderation of a Stack Exchange community requires a good bit of humility and the ability to sympathise. I wrote a number of detailed answers regarding possible challenges when running to be a moderator on AskUbuntu, where I am most active, and would follow the same principles here.

Questions, comments, or concerns? Feel free to reach out. I can be found on SE for sixteen hour of every day but Sunday 👍🏻

This election is over.
