On Stack Exchange, we believe the core moderators should come from the community, and be elected by the community itself through popular vote. We hold regular elections to determine who these community moderators will be.

Community moderators are accorded the highest level of privilege on our community, and should themselves be exemplars of positive behavior and leaders within the community.

Our general criteria for moderators is as follows:

  • patient and fair
  • leads by example
  • shows respect for their fellow community members in their actions and words
  • open to some light but firm moderation to keep the community on track and resolve (hopefully) uncommon disputes and exceptions

Full elections have three phases and an optional fourth phase (Primary):

  1. Question Collection
  2. Nomination
  3. Primary
  4. Election

Please participate in the moderator elections by voting, and perhaps even by nominating yourself to be a community moderator!

I discovered elementary OS user back in 2014 (in 0.2 Luna) and it's been my main distro ever since. I was one of the first users of the StackExchange site, and as I accumulated reputation, I've always strived to put the privileges I progressively gained into good use: by commenting and voting in questions and answers, proposing edits, and later helping with the moderation queues.

I've been less active in the community for a while as I was assigned macbooks in my past two jobs, but I recently joined a new company where they allowed me to have a Linux laptop, so I'm getting back to more active use of elementary OS. I saw the banner about the moderator elections, and thought I'd step up to help.

As a moderator, I expect to work in a mostly hands-off fashion, helping out in the background to clean up queues, review moderation requests, that sort of thing. I personally love organizing content (I do a lot of categorization work in Wikimedia wikis), so I will probably be active in tag management, helping with adding, improving and normalizing tag wikis and excerpts.

Happy to submit myself to the community's consideration!

This election is over.
